If you have diabetes, you know how challenging it can be to manage your disease. Healthy eating, physical activity, monitoring your condition, taking medication and reducing your risk for complications are critical. At times, all of this might seem overwhelming.
A certified diabetes educator (CDE) can help. A CDE possesses comprehensive knowledge and experience in pre-diabetes, diabetes prevention and diabetes management. Diabetes impacts a person at home, work, and school and effects many areas of your life. As a member of your healthcare team, a diabetes educator will work with you to develop a plan to stay healthy, and give you the tools and ongoing support to make that plan a regular part of your life. Diabetes education is a recognized part of your diabetes care and is covered by Medicare and most health insurance plans.
Here at Well Life, we have a Clinical Pharmacist who is Board Certified in Advanced Diabetes Management (BC-ADM) and is a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) to help you through the process. She and her team of doctor of Pharmacy candidates from MCPHS University (Formerly known as Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Sciences) can help you with this process. In collaboration with your primary care provider she will work with you on medication and lifestyle management. By working with a CDE you will receive diabetes self-management education which will lead to better control and prevent short and long term complications of diabetes that may cause unnecessary pain and suffering. In addition to diabetes care, the Pharmacy team can work with your provide to help manage medications and choose the best therapies for you for all of your health care needs.
